THE OFFICE OF THE CORONER

The coroner's investigator(s) may perform any investigatory tasks not limited by statute to the authority of the coroner or deputy coroner. The Coroner's office employs forensic medicolegal investigators who are specially trained in death investigation. Coroner investigators may have law enforcement experience, degree in criminal justice, evidence technician experience and training, and paramedic or nursing experience. The investigators section operates, as does the coroner's office, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Their duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Crime Scene Investigation, Processing and Handling of the Deceased, Medical Record Review, Subpoena of Information, and Working with other Investigatory Agencies, all of which helps obtain information to communicate to the Coroner. |
