VI. TRANSPORTATION and DISPOSITON OF THE DECEASED Transportation of the deceased will be provided by the Office of the Coroner to the county morgue for all bodies (and only those bodies) which the coroner has the legal obligation to examine. If the deceased is to be transported to another location for special examination, this too will be provided by the Coroner's Office. After this special examination has been completed, the decedent's family or responsible party will be responsible, with the assistance of the Coroner's Office, for contacting the funeral director of their choice to make arrangements for the final disposition of the decedent's body. No body of a deceased shall be released from the morgue or the jurisdiction of the coroner without direct communication and authorization from said coroner's office. When obtaining the release authorization, the coroner's office is to be informed as to the funeral director to whom the body is to be released. |
